In the Players summary, if the “Only players seen recently” checkbox is checked, only players seen in the last 24 hours are shown. This was previously showing all players seen in the last month. This gives an enormous speed improvement to the Players summary for Poker Copilot users who play a lot of hands per month. Thanks to loyal customer Al for testing this.
Cmd+W now closes the current window, as in most other Mac OS X applications.

Fold to Three-Bet was sometimes calculated incorrectly. Thanks to loyal customer Jon for helping me track down this problem.
Pressing a keyboard key while selecting a custom date no longer crashes Poker Copilot. Thanks to the JDatePicker team for fixing this so quickly after I reported it.

Poker Copilot now no longer blocks your Mac from shutting down or restarting.
What will happen [with Poker Copilot] when the new French online gambling laws are effective? The French laws will be like in the Italian model, playing between French players on certified rooms.
Here’s what will happen: Immediate Poker Copilot changes and updates. As soon as it is clear what needs to be done to make Poker Copilot keep working in France, I’ll make the necessary changes and release an update. Poker Copilot already works with the Italian-specific version of PokerStars, so if they release a France-specific client, we’re already in place to support it. We’re already adding support for Winamax’s new France-only client that will work within France’s online gambling laws.
On a personal note: I fully endorse governments regulating online gambling, and specifically online poker. In many countries the legality of online poker is uncertain and governments mostly turn a blind eye. Regulating online poker removes the legal ambiguity of taking part in an enormously popular pastime. It also will prevent the grossest excesses that some online poker firms sometimes indulge in.
I had a sneak look at Winamax’s coming new software today, and I was impressed. Winamax concentrates on the French online poker market. The good news, Winamax players, is that finally I’ll be able to add a working Poker Copilot HUD (Head-up Display) to Winamax when the new software is released.
From a technical point, I think the Winamax team chose a good cross-platform technology. They are using Adobe AIR, a technology that makes Adobe Flash and Adobe Flex applications run both as desktop apps AND as browser-based apps. Flash/Flex are inherently cross-platform.
What I like best about Winamax is that they are the only major online poker room that actually personally contacted me and encouraged me to add support for their poker room to Poker Copilot.
When random people – such as my cleaning lady’s husband – ask for help with computer problems, they are almost always using Windows. So I can say, quite honestly these days, “Oh, I don’t know much about Microsoft Windows, I only have a Mac and it is really different”. And I am saved from a world of continuing pain.
When non-computerish friends and relatives do ask me for help in choosing a computer, I always recommend getting a MacBook. Because I just know there will be far fewer requests for free technical support afterwards.

This has been helpful to solicit feedback. It prompts people to tell me directly if there was some major problem or annoyance that interfered with their trial.
Yesterday, it prompted Poker Copilot customer Avery to send me this email which left me uplifted for hours afterwards:
Poker Copilot has exceeded my expectations over the few weeks I’ve owned it. I used the demo of an earlier version. But the changes you’ve made since you started Copilot sold me on buying it, and make me happy to own it.
That you continue to upgrade Poker Copilot, and continue to make those upgrades free to users of the current version, shows a real commitment to your hopefully growing customer base. Certainly, I recommend Copilot to anyone I know. I sense that you are excited about your program and its continued development, and that’s exciting as a user. I also like supporting practical, no-nonsense programmers like you, who are working hard to make an already user-friendly program friendlier and more comprehensive. You don’t promise the world, and your blog is a refreshing testament to that (please keep those communications up!), but what you do promise you deliver in spades.
I haven’t won millions yet. Far from it. But being able to study my play and the play of my opponents is invaluable to me improving as a poker player. My ROI is up. My ITM is up. And I’ve been able to identify some serious holes in my game thanks to you and your program.

Since returning from holiday, I’ve found it hard to get back into the full swing of working. My inbox still contains a swag of emails which I want to answer, just as soon as I do all the important tasks. Like making another cup of coffee, or checking Facebook one more time just in case something really interesting appears. Or removing the built-up calcium from the shower head, a task which occupied a small part of this morning.
So apologies to people still waiting for answers to queries and suggestions. Hopefully today is the day Newton’s Second Law of Motion will come into play, and my body will experience a force, causing an acceleration.
I’m back from my Ukrainian holiday and into full Poker Copilot mode. Today is a public holiday here in Cologne, Germany, and it is a superb summer’s day. My body was screaming for me to stay in holiday mode for one more day, go outside, and enjoy the sunshine. But I really needed to do this update and answer some e-mails.
A few days ago the Cereus Network’s poker rooms were updated. They now have a slightly different hand history format, which Poker Copilot doesn’t like.
The bad news: it will take me about a week to fix this.
Why? Normally I get fixes to these problems out in 24 hours. I got the fix done this time, but before I uploaded it my MacBook Pro’s monitor died. I am currently visiting Ukraine, so it leaves me in a difficult situation. I considered my options: get the MacBook Pro fixed quickly (didn’t work out); cancel my trip and return immediately to Germany (seriously considered it); or accept the situation and make sure that as soon as I return I release the update (the option I’m going with).
I’m currently on holiday, travelling through Eastern Europe. Today I am in Poland, and tomorrow I hope to go to Lviv in Ukraine.
Therefore, for the next two or three weeks, there will be no active development of Poker Copilot. Responses to your support emails may be a little slower than usual.
