Today’s PokerStars update broke Poker Copilot’s HUD on “Fast” tables. So the update comes earlier than I expected. Hence there are still some known issues in the new hand formatter.
What’s changed:
“View” menu now has two new options that are active when a hand is selected: “View Hand History Text” and “View in Hand Replayer”
Right-clicking on a hand gives two options: “View Hand History Text” and “View in Hand Replayer”
Viewing the hand history text now shows the text formatted. Use ⌘+T and ⌘+R to switch between viewing the hand as formatted text and in the replayer
What’s fixed:
The HUD works once more with PokerStars fast tables.
Cancelling a long-running screen update no longer stops the database
When you right-click (or ctrl-click) on a hand in Poker Copilot’s “Recent Hands” Summary, you can “View Hand History Text”.
The next update will present the text as either raw text or in a nicely formatted, more readable style. Here’s where I’ve got so far with this:
Before I do more work on this feature, can you tell me your preferred format? I’ve been working with the format created by http://www.handconverter.com/ so far. There’s also the colourful 2+2 format which is a candidate:
Clearly I can offer multiple formats. But I like to start simple.
This is problematic for me. Because it ensures I’ll get a flood of support emails asking why Poker Copilot’s value for VPIP doesn’t match Poker Tracker’s value.
I must admit, though, that there is logic in their change.
The current update of Poker Copilot no longer has the obsolete options to add PokerStars tournament summaries manually. For a few months PokerStars can give Poker Copilot these files automatically. If you were using one of the older ways, such as letting Poker Copilot scan your Gmail, or manually adding the files into Poker Copilot, you should now enable “Tournament Summaries” in PokerStars.
I’ve been unusually quiet on the Poker Copilot blog lately. That’s because I’ve been getting the most out of my Central American holiday.
Now I’m in a hotel room in San Salvador, El Salvador, at the end of my trip, and flying back to Germany tomorrow. In the last few days, I’ve done less sight-seeing, trekking, swimming, etc, and rested. So I’ve had time to deal with some Poker Copilot issues. Some specific issues I’ve dealt with:
By using “FIle” -> “Add PokerStars Tournament Audit…” you can now add PokerStars Knockout Bounties
I’ve changed the way unexpected crashes or power outages are handled. This means that the problems in recent versions with crashes and corrupt databases should be much less.
There are some other small tweaks and fixes which I’ll list when I release the update early next week. I just played a couple of tournaments and noticed that my MacBook Pro was getting extremely hot. It seems Poker Copilot was maxing out the CPU. I want to investigate what’s causing this once I’m back in my full office in Germany.
Some Poker Copilot users, new and old, have been having Poker Copilot consistently crashing on them, and not offering the chance to recover from this.
I’ve managed to trace this problem to an Apple issue. I’ve reported it to Apple developer support. Apple’s developer support tends to be first-rate and fast, so I hope to have a solution soon.
My apologies for anyone this is affecting. I’ll post a work-around as soon as I have one.
How you can tell if this affects you
When you run Poker Copilot, it will show you this message:
The bold text will always say, “Cannot launch Java application“. The lighter text may be different for you.
Poker Copilot 2.91 lost the Head-up Display (HUD) for some people. As far as I could determine, this was limited to PokerStars players with PowerPC Macs. It’s been roughly four years since Apple last produced PowerPC Macs – now they use Intel chips – so fortunately this didn’t affect too many people.
This problem is fixed in Poker Copilot 2.92, the current update.
Many thanks to loyal Poker Copilot customer Christophe who went above and beyond in helping me find and fix the problem. As I’m on holiday on a Caribbean island, his help was even more appreciated.
You only need to get this update if you have a PowerPC Mac.
Some people are having problems with PokerStars on Poker Copilot 2.91. I’m working on this, with the help of some patient Poker Copiloy customers. However I’m somewhat hampered at being able to solve this as quickly as I want, as I’m doing this in between some international flights. Not ideal, I know, and I appreciate your patience.
In the meantime, if this problem affects you, I recommend getting the last good update of Poker Copilot, 2.90. You can download it with this link:
