PCP 4 Dallas Translations: Please Help!

(Poker Copilot 4 is under development. Buy version 3 now, beat the price rise, and receive a free upgrade to version 4 when it is released.)

Thanks to all who have been helping with translating Poker Copilot. The translations into French, Russian, and Hungarian are all done or mostly done. If you can help translate a few bits of text in any of these languages, please join in here:

  • Dutch
  • German
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Portuguese (Portugal)
  • Spanish (Spain)
  • Spanish (Latin America and the Caribbean)
I check every day to see if there are updates to the translations, and if so, I add them to the latest PCP Dallas EAP build.

If you are fluent in any of these languages, it is easy to join in and translate even one piece of text. So why don’t you have a go at the Poker Copilot translation site.

I’m now back in Europe and finishing up the last tasks needed to launch Poker Copilot 4. Apropos of nothing, here’s two more photos from my recent trip. These are from deep in Guyana’s rainforest:

Poker Copilot "Dallas" Update

(Poker Copilot 4 is under development. Buy version 3 now, beat the price rise, and receive a free upgrade to version 4 when it is released.)

If you’ve been trying the early access builds of Poker Copilot 4, then here’s some news: As of now, Poker Copilot 4 no longer has a separate database and settings from Poker Copilot 3. When you next download and try Poker Copilot 4, your existing Poker Copilot 3 database will be detected and upgraded to Poker Copilot 4.

Some other things to note:

  • While your database is updating, you can’t use Poker Copilot 4. After the database update, Poker Copilot will spend some time recalculating your statistics. While this is happening, you can use Poker Copilot 4, but note that not all hands will show in your statistics until the recalculation is complete.
  • If you play on Winamax, you’ll need to set your preferred Winamax set again in Poker Copilot 4. All other settings are copied from Poker Copilot 3 to Poker Copilot 4.

The last couple of weeks has been a time to let Poker Copilot 4 “settle”, as the last major bugs get flushed out. So I’ve used that time to see parts of the Caribbean. I’m writing from the departure lounge at Barbados Airport, waiting for a flight to Guyana. Ricki Lake is playing on the departure lounge television. Loudly. I don’t like this show. But I do like running a one-person software company, where I can work and travel.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a photo from where I was staying and working yesterday, in Dominica:

Online Poker in the USA

It seems two days ago, an outfit called Ultimate Poker launched real money online poker for US players, but solely for residents of Nevada. There is no Mac client yet. I also don’t know if they are related to the scandal-ridden Ultimate Bet of earlier days.

I’m keen to see how this goes. Before online poker’s Black Friday, roughly 55% of my customers were in the USA. I’d _love_ to start having US customers in large numbers again.

But this being just for Nevada is somewhat worrying. It could precursor a state-by-state approach to online poker, meaning each player can only compete against others in their state.

Poker Copilot 4 EAP Updates

(Poker Copilot 4 is under development. Buy version 3 now, beat the price rise, and receive a free upgrade to version 4 when it is released.)

I’m now updating the EAP builds of Poker Copilot 4 daily. This means that the translations people have been helping with can be seen in context.

So far people have helped with the French, Hungarian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Russian translations. I’ve done some work on the German and Spanish translations, but as I’m not a native speaker of either language, I’ve stuck to the simple words.

You can help with these languages and more here

So far I’m happy with the Get Localization website for handling these translations. Although I find the workflow somewhat unintuitive, the “translation memory” feature is a big help.

Disappearing Blog Comments

So…I’ve just discovered why for weeks now – or perhaps months, there have been absolute zero comments appearing on my blog posts. Blogger, the blogging engine I use, decided to get really fussy about which comments it thought were spam. There were a bunch of comments awaiting my approval… sorry if your comment appeared and was ignored.

The new features in the forthcoming Poker Copilot 4 mean more text to translate. There are about 70 new strings that need translating.

I’m trying a website called Get Localization (fittingly, also available at http://getlocalisation.com/) to make the translations easier to manage. Would you like to translate a few strings? Then sign up here

I’m initially trying this out with Dutch, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish, as they are the most complete translations in Poker Copilot 3.

Barriere Poker support for real money

I’ve now added support to Poker Copilot 4 for Barriere Poker real money tournaments and real money ring games. The HUD works, the hand history folder is auto-detected, and your preferred seat is detected to make sure HUD panels appear in the right place.
You can test this out in PCP Dallas EAP. Feedback welcome.

Coming in Poker Copilot 4: Barriere Poker

(Poker Copilot 4 is under development. Buy version 3 now, beat the price rise, and receive a free upgrade to version 4 when it is released.)

Today’s PCP Dallas EAP update adds support for Barriere Poker, play money only. It should work with ring games and tournaments.

If you use Barriere Poker, please please please send me some hand histories! This will help me add support for real money. I’m in Spain, where Barriere Poker doesn’t have a license to operate, so until now, I’ve been restricted to working on play money tables.
