From a Poker Copilot customer who tried Poker Tracker:
"I downloaded the Poker Tracker 3 60 day trial and gave it a shot. And I didn't just give it a little shot. I played 50,0000+ hands total in the last year (amateur for sure) and I played the last 5,000 using PT3 exclusively. And I prefer Copilot. No doubt I'm partial to your product being the first Mac tracker to market, but I wanted to be intellectually honest about it. Best product wins.
"As a Mac user, Copilot wins for me. There are valuable things I could get out of PT3 that I can't get out of Copilot. BUT you're constantly advancing. And your product is (to me) so perfect for the Mac market. Figure out what 95% of the customers want and go with that rather than trying to please the other 5% too and making an overly complicated product for everybody."
This was an unsolicited email. I've got several emails like this recently. I appreciate them!
I don't want to get caught up in a "My product vs their product" slagging match. Live and let live, as they say. So you probably won't hear much more from me on this issue.

I tried PT for the Mac too, but didn't bother continuing with the test after the import process. Almost 1/3 of my hand history files weren't loaded in the database, game over. I may look at it again if and when they get it out of beta test mode, and maybe not.
I would prefer to use a Poker Copilot v3 that moves in the direction of a collection of widgets. Improved HUD performance with reduced CPU/memory footprint will be the game winner for me.
For me, I think the biggest reason PT3 would win is Omaha support. It, as the whole Mac support, are still in beta but somehow usable if you can stand occasional freezes etc.
From the usability point of view, I would prefer Poker Copilot, because it feels much more simpler and lighter. I also really admire your process, but as a casual Omaha player it's hard to justify buying it yet... but maybe someday? :)
I have used both PT3 and Holdem Manager. HEM was very good and the dude who writes it is solid for tech support etc. One thing HEM does is allow the generation of an amazing raft of different statistical reports - more than you'd ever be able to analyze and use.
But I think in the end I like copilot best too. Not only because it's native OS X software (and that is a BIG reason -- goodbye Parallels and windows!), but also because of the excellent updating and generally the UI is much nicer, the HUD is much nicer, and the ease of use is much much nicer.
I know that two big things missing from copilot are coming (HUD in the replayer during post game analysis and more statistical reporting), so I'm very pleased to put out my recommend for copilot.
To be fair, PokerTracker 3 for OS X is its infancy, while PokerCopilot 2 has been around for quite some time. I don't think you really can compare the two "as is".
Andrew,
I think it's actually more than fair to compare the two. PT is a port of a mature program, so it should actually be more sophisticated out of the box than Copilot. If it's lacking - and I haven't tried it so I don't know - then it should be smacked for that.

Overall, Copilot is lacking some key stats comparing to PT3 (PT#, btw, has too many), like fold to bet on tur, however, the HUD is so much better for MAC.
PT3 does not allow to move HUD on screen so it has some really key areas of the screen covered, like the size of my stack.
So it is more stats vs. better HUD for me.
Andrew,
In addition to PT3 being a port of an existing mature program. The developers have been "claiming" to be working on this port for several years now. If anything it is a testament to PokerCopilot2 and Steve that he has created a product so quickly that DOES compare with PT3 while also instilling confidence that it will continue to improve rapidly.

I ran PT3 when I played on Parallels, but after using PCoP and then running PT3 on the Mac, there was just something inherently wrong with using something that I thought I loved. Poker CoPilot is the winner IMO. PT3 may have billions of reports that can be created and run, but what has me sold on PoCP is that it gives me everything I want to see in a couple of clicks, and that is all that I think most poker players want to see.
I have now played around with PT3 for a few days and I have to agree with what seems to be a prevailing majority here - while PT does have more features, CP is a clear winner in terms of usability.
So the only thing that keeps me from swiping my credit card is Omaha support ;).
