Be Yourself

A tip I read on taking advantage of being a one-person software company:

Differentiate yourself from bigger companies by being personal and friendly
A lot of small companies make the mistake of trying to act big. It's as if they perceive their size as a weakness that needs to be covered up. Too bad. Being small can actually be a huge advantage, especially when it comes to communication.

I don't necessarily agree with this.

While yes, it's true that with a small company, the actualy owner of the company can communicate with customers, I think that when people buy stuff, they feel a lot safer buying from a big corporation which they imagine to be more reputable and to have higher quality products.

This is part of the reason why big chains keep putting small independently owned stores out of business.
